I love this song. I remember hearing it years ago not knowing who sung it or what it was called.

It’s so sad but beautiful at the same time

  11. TheUglyJoe says:

It’s actually that rare, that the tempo is changed just a bit, it’s gives a good variation, and it works great in this song i think! :)

  13. stephenwainrib says:

yehh i know that it was planned but like, its weird.. ive never seen a band just change tempo like that for a chorus and thenchange back for the verses. the first time it happened i was like “HUH?! they all just went totally out of time!!” haha

  14. jazzycoz says:

I think that’s planned though- I know that guys I’ve played for have given tempo directions. Lets the melody in the chorus speak a bit more?

  15. stephenwainrib says:

they kept changing tempo during the chorus from the verses :S
still an amazing song, one of my favourites, so damn sad :(

  16. Hannyunique says:

  17. sndever says:

“People ask me what this song’s about… I was asked about it a lot, and I didn’t really wanna make a big hairy deal out of it, because I just wanted the song to speak for itself. But the song is about when I was in high school, me and my girlfriend had to get an abortion, and it was a very sad thing. And, I didn’t really want to write this song from any kind of political standpoint, or make a statement. I just wanted to reflect what it feels like.” Ben Folds

  18. schmosh09 says:

the whole song is about ben describing the day him and his girlfriend got an abortion and also how emotional and difficult it was.

  19. TheSpearmintx says:

wat makes dis an abortion song? wat particular line??

  20. lufc550 says:

  21. djkikis says:

  22. livshadows says:

esto es un himno para el mundo Ben folds es increible!

  23. acoustic4037 says:

I agree. They suffered the consequences (being tired of lying for one) and also the tone or mood of the song is definitely NOT happy and celebrating. Regret is implied…

    The last 4 seconds!

  25. brauskovski says:
