Song: Escape Artist: Muse Album: Showbiz You would say anything And you would try anything To escape your meaningless And your insignificance You’re uncontrollable And we are unlovable And I don’t want you to think that I care I never would, I never could again Why can’t you just love her? Why be such a monster? You bully from a distance Your brain needs some assistance But I’ll still take all the blame ‘Cause you and me are both one and the same And its driving me mad And its driving me mad I’ll take back all the things that I said I didn’t realize I was talking to the living dead And I dont want you to think that I care I never would, I never could again You would say anything And you would try anything To escape your meaningless And your insignificance

Music this good just doesn’t come around very often. Muse are the king of emotions, along with Buckethead and Zack de la Rocha. The day this song is surpassed in emotion and brilliance by someone other than the two listed above, I’ll be long-dead.

This is a truly beautiful song, one of Muse’s best.

  7. Jose04811 says:

  12. MyGreyJumper says:

@nursefrankenstein exactly, you can’t compare the two. They’re completely different sounds.

    whyyy naaaattt?? hjihjiii:P

  15. nursefrankenstein says:

I wanst trying to say that radiohead sucks, but its just not a very good comparison, bombastic arena rock with synth, classic piano and an operatic lead singer- vs a much more all encompassing prog electronic rock -It would be better to compare Matt and Thom- as singers matt wins hands down, but as musical geniuses go I might give the edge to Thom

  16. TheDisco31 says:

Muse is my life now. All hail Muse XD

  17. PoeticallyIlliterate says:

Both of those bands hold a giant place in my heart and inbetween those places is a line. a very big one.

  18. TheDisco31 says:

    You would say anything
    And you would try anything
    To escape your meaningless
    And your insignificance
    You’re uncontrollable
    And we are unlovable
And I don’t want you to think that I care
I never would, I never could, again.

  19. nursefrankenstein says:

Some jerkoff was trying to compare muse to radiohead, and I was like radiohead pushes their boundaries and and steps outside of playing widely appealing rock in order to explore new territory- while muse knows how to play to their own talents much better- which makes their music much more accessible-these two bands are nothing alike

  24. htfussman32 says:

This is probably one of the best songs ever written. No, let me rephrase that – THE best song ever written. Nothing can beat this – great music, strong powerful message. Great song.

  25. Sniperdog14 says:

This song is a hypothetical conversation Matt has with his Dad; confronting him about how he abandoned Matt and his Mom during his childhood. In my opinion its the saddest and one of the most powerful songs he’s ever written especially when you really listen to the lyrics and realize what hes saying in context.
