Hans Erik will be performing live this Thursday, 7/22/2010 at 8:30pm at Googie’s Lounge above the Living Room.  Hans will be joined by longtime friend and collaborator Erik Naslund on bass and backing vocals.  Erik has played alongside Hans for the past 5 years, joining the first inception of Hans’ band called HanZsolo and then for the later configuration called Hanz Erik and the Hims.  Both currently reside in New York City and have been performing as a duo and a recently created trio with drummer Chris Stromquist.

What:  Hans Erik and Erik Naslund live at Googie’s Lounge
When: Thursday, 7/22, 8:30pm
Where: 154 Ludlow St, New York, NY, 10002
How Much:  FREE!

A little about the venue:

Just up the rickety stairwell of LES institution the Living Room hovers Googie’s Lounge, a folksy venue posing as your spinster aunt’s dusty attic. Googie’s is more an appendage of the LR than a separate establishment, and it doesn’t have its own bar (waitresses in flats and tights climb 32 stairs to better serve you), but it does make for an endearingly ramshackle performance space, complete with musty curtains, scattered holiday lighting, and an ivory-white baby grand. Coated in a soft sky blue, the Lounge’s extremely casual air allows for the intimacy its music demands: A few low-lit tables place drinkers face-to-face with the brave song smiths. There couldn’t be a better place to catch your girlfriend’s best friend’s college roommate cousins’ CD-release party. — Patrick Coffee of NYmag

  • How to Soundproof a Room Whether you live by a busy road, you just had a new baby or your children have discovered the wonders of musical instruments, soundproofing a room has many benefits. Commonly, bedrooms are the rooms where soundproofing brings the most benefit, but literally any room can be soundproofed. It’s easier than......

- Source -

To record music and enjoy good sound ends up in your house studio, it is important to take a look at the acoustic of your studio room.

If you build your studio, step one to think about is to select a room that’s a great distance away from the street and noise sources, for example TV room, rest room, kitchen, or cellar.

In this piece, I love to share you some guidelines how to improve room acoustics to prevent sound from going out for better music recording.

Non-parallel Walls

A room with parallel facing walls drawbacks your recording. This occurs as the sound quantity creates standing waves and these standing waves end in unwelcome noises.

To get round this problem, you might change one of the parallel walls. Create an uneven, round or absorptive wall. You could make pyramid and lattice shapes, but I might never use concave curves. This kind of surface reflects and diffuses sound you need to hear. Diffused sound prohibits standing waves and eradicates “dead spots”. You should also cover flat surfaces with hang diffusers like absorptive thick weaving material curtains.

Placement of Speakers

Wrong placements of the speakers would encounter phase interference between the reflected sound and the direct sound. If the quantity of reflected sounds that travels in your room is stronger than the quantity of direct sound, you get too much reverberation. Therefore , you need to place the speakers so that the reflected distant between the walls, ceilings, and your equipments are short. If the wall or ceiling isn’t really enough absorptive, avoid to put the speakers in the corner.

Moderately assimilation

Over the top assimilation would create dead sound in the room. Choose only materials that absorb complete range of sound like good hardwood floor, heavy weaving material curtains, or thick gypsum board.

These tips hopefully would improve the effectiveness of your music production in your home studio and ensure you finish up with perfect recording in your studio as well as outside of the studio.

The Internet really is a fantastic place – everything there at our fingertips for us to use as and when. This is the case with Internet radio. It’s great – you can listen to stations from all over the world or perhaps even small local radio stations that are only available online.

The issue that we have here is that the computer usually limits you as to where you can listen to the radio. Not everyone has a computer in every room, not everyone has speakers in every room that can be rigged up to the computer. This is restrictive and that is not desirable.

This creates a restriction – with the freedom of the Internet we do not want to be restricted. Well now there is a solution – the Wireless Internet Radio.

This device is almost a mini computer in itself – it connects to your existing wireless network as if it was, for example, a laptop computer connecting. This regular looking radio then allows you to access the tens of thousands of stations from anywhere within range. This could be in your back garden, in the bathroom, the kitchen or any other room that you may like to be in.

Not only do you have the ability to listen to all these radio stations but the product allows you to utilise such audio delights as podcasts and listen again services similar to that offered by the BBC – if this is not available for your favourite channel it most likely soon will be as listening to your favourite show, at a time to suit you, is becoming ever more popular.

As an added bonus the Internet radio will also allow you to stream music from your PC to the radio. This means that all your favourite songs that you have stored on your computer no longer need to heard in the same room as your computer.

This versatile little device is surely going to be very popular in the future. Of course, you do need a wireless network to begin with but most good ISPs are now giving wireless routers away for free when you sign up.

The final thing that I must point out – the subscription to these thousands of channels is Free or charge – you pay for the radio then that is it – Free from then on. How good is that!?

JBO Solutions provides excellent Wifi Internet Radios along with all other top quality PC parts at great prices
